Piotr Gwiazda is Associate Professor of English at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He is the author of James Merrill and W.H. Auden: Homosexuality and Poetic Influence (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), as well as of several articles on contemporary poetry published in Chicago Review, Contemporary Literature, Jacket, PN Review, the TLS, and elsewhere. His first book of poems Gagarin Streetwon the 2005 Washington Writers’ Publishing House Competition. His most recent poems appear in With+Stand, Poetic Voices Without Borders, The Bedside Guide to No Tell Motel, and Baltimore Is Reads:An Outdoor Journal. During his time in Stonington, Gwiazda worked on two projects, a poetry manuscript and a critical study of US poetry in the era of globalization.
