THANK YOU TO OUR FUNDERS

The James Merrill House gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the following state and institutional funders:

CONNECTICUT HUMANITIES

The JMH's first-ever exhibit, “James Merrill’s World: fans and clouds and bats—” was made possible in part through Museum Makeover, a program of Conservation ConneCTion and the Connecticut League of History Organizations with a grant from the CT Cultural Fund, administered by CT Humanities. CT Humanities also awarded the James Merrill House a Capacity Grant to support our strategic planning process for 2023-2027.

CT STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE

CT SHPO awarded the James Merrill House a survey and planning grant to complete a master plan for the conservation and preservation of 107 Water Street and the Merrill apartment. This funding is provided through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

ACADEMY OF AMERICAN POETS

The Academy of American Poets awarded the James Merrill House Foundation a capacity-building grant to support the Foundation's work in building the first-ever endowment fund for the James Merrill House.

MERRILL FAMILY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

We have received generous support from the Merrill Family Charitable Foundation for the James Merrill House's operational expenses and the James Merrill House Foundation.

HELLEN INGRAM PLUMMER CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

We have received generous support from the Hellen Ingram Plummer Foundation for the James Merrill House's operational expenses and the James Merrill House Foundation

THE EDWARD & MARY LORD FOUNDATION

We are deeply grateful to the Edward & Mary Lord Foundation for their generous support. In 2022, the Foundation provided funding for the creation of a virtual tour of the James Merrill House, allowing visitors from around the world to explore this National Historic Landmark online. In 2024, their continued support enabled the renovation of our first-floor retail space, which included updated electrical work to improve safety and functionality. These contributions have been invaluable in preserving and enhancing the JMH experience for our community and beyond.
